The rain eased slightly and I splashed the bike through the puddles, soaking my socks as I stamped about, kicking up dirty water and squelching through the whisked-up mud in my squidgy plimsolls. Just when I thought I couldn't get any wetter, a car came whizzing past, sloshing through a deep puddle by the kerb and sending up an enormous spray like a tidal wave that completely covered me in mud and rain. I was delighted.
