In the late autumn of 1887, a new magazine boldly entitled Lucifer began to circulate in London's spiritualist circles. Influential men took an interest. People who mattered were intrigued, though quite a few had doubts about it. Of course, the person behind the magazine was a women and, worse, a Russian.
