You could send bookchain members a letter to remind them of the finishing date and to ask them to return all books to the library as soon as possible. You might want to tell them any plans you have to
- display the comments in the library
- organise a social gathering for bookchain members
- start a new bookchain
Sample letter: to mark the end of the bookchain
24 August 2007
Dear
Laketon Library Bookchain
Thank you for taking part in the Laketon Library Bookchain. The bookchain is now closed and I would be grateful if you would return any outstanding books and comments sheets to the library as soon as possible.
As soon as all the comments sheets are gathered, I will display them on the Bookchain Noticeboard in the library. Look out for these in September.
The next bookchain will kick off at the beginning of October and I’ll be in touch with some dates and information nearer the time. In the meantime, why not choose and read a new book in preparation for the event.
If you have friends, work colleagues or family who would like to take part in the next bookchain, please ask them to contact me, [include details] and I'll send them the details of how to join.
Yours sincerely
