The Testament of Gideon Mack

by James Robertson

This is one of the best books I have read. I was a bit daunted as to whther I would 'get on' wiht it but it is a book to keep.
A wonderful mix of issues of faith, religion, the supernatural and descending into mental illness. Who does he meet?

I would like to agree with this reviewer! The story (about a Scottish cleric who falls out with his Church, struggles with his lack of faith and then rather suprisingly meets the devil) is utterly compelling and as well as being thought provoking. The open ending leaves the reader with a great deal to think about. I know it turned round and round in my mind for some time after reading it!
