Cloud Atlas

by David Mitchell

I avoided Cloud atlas like the plague until we were doing it as a readers group. It intrigued me from the beginning with its ingenuity and wit. It is like reading 6 books in one and has so much to say about the human spirit and pysche.

I'm sorry, but I found the format of this very irritating and pretentious. I ended up reading the seperate stories seperately. I'm not a fan of short stories, but I did quite enjoy these once they were on their own.

I also avoided this book but was convinced to read it by a librarian and really enjoyed it! I particularly liked the way the separate plot lines were interwoven and connected in some way to contribute to the whole story.
