The Secret of Crickley Hall

by James Herbert

I really enjoyed this book. I was hesitant to read it at first as the last couple of James Herbert's books haven't been up to much but just from reading the inside cover, I couldn't wait to start it!
The story is fast moving with lots of twists and turns and the ending is brilliant. I was sorry to come to the final page.
I highly recommend this book to others.

Perhaps it's our perception of how we would like the book to end that is often disappointing? I thoroughly enjoyed this, another intriguing, spin chilling story from James Herbert. There were many sub-plots here, and I suppose all the ending could do was to wind them all up. The real pleasure of reading is the journey you take from the beginning through to the end. View it as a whole experience, rather than 'did it have a good ending'.

I nearly did not go to bed over Christmas reading this.Good story but l found the ending was too rushed and disapointing. Is it just me or does anybody else feel that this happens in a good number of books published lately?. Are even well known writers rushing to meet dead lines, to the detriment of their work, or are publishers pushing too hard for more and more work?
