the glass books of the dream eaters

by GH Dahlquist

So far the first half has been a raunchy, blood-thirsty whirl of intrigue in an imaginary city set in the Victorian period. Three unlikely characters are thrown together (a jilted heiress, state physician and hired assasin) to combat a mysterious plot which involves government ministers, prostitutes and blue glass. A gripping read with plenty of atmosphere and is showing no signs of running out of steam.

the most curious book I've ever encountered, enthralling, and nothing I have read since has really ever compared to it. Very adult in theme, but would make a great cross over read for teens, if they had enjoyed the Sally Lockheart mysteries by Phillip Pullman especially.
