Lillian's Story, One woman's Journey through the 2oth Century

by Sally Patricia Gardner

Bought it because I'd met the author--a first time novelist-- and noticed the reviews on Amazon. Sat up all night reading it--and the next day my equally insomniac son did as well---(but not cool to admit this publicly--hence anonymity). Lillian's life, from a Suffolk child in service, through both wars--and the intensity of her life on the home front in WW2 is totally believable---into the austerity years and finally to a greater prosperity in the later years of the century is told with great attention to historical accuracy but also enormous humanity---I laughed and I cried.
