Private Peaceful

by Michael Morpurgo

This is an amaxing read, books for teens are getting so good!
I defy anyone not to love it, but I will warn you you will be crying at the end. It is the story of a family, and 2 brothers going off to war. All the way through you have a sense that something awful is about to happen, but its not till then end that you realise what.
Don't let that put you off though, it is definitely worth reading, Michael Morpurgo is one of our best children's writers, and this story is wonderful, and brings to light an issue that should be talked more about.

I was going to enter this book in this section but found it here already. A truly fabulous book, simple, well written and gripping with characters that you really care about. I defy anyone to read this and not be in tears at the end. My son was studying First World War literature at A level, and put this alongside All Quiet on the Western Front for bring home the full horror of war.

I fully agree with the above comments. This is a wonderful and very well written book. I was recommended this by a 15 year girl, one of our borrowers. Having read this i would recommend it to anyone.
I agree. It's a story that you think will end differently, and really illustrates the horror of world war one.
