Hotel California

by Barney Hoskyns

This book documents the music coming from LA in the sixties and seventies, focussing on the west coast sound. Even if your bag isn't music, the writing still grabs you and offers an insight into the minds of egotistical rockstars. It is such a good read that I was sorry when it came to an end.

A well-written account of an exciting time in music and youth culture. The huge cast of characters feature in some hilarious anecdotes and almost all of the main protagonists have a story worth reading on its own.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it's a real warts and all account! I love the music of this era, and it was interesting to read about the stories behind the music. It really made me wish I'd been there to see and hear it all first hand!

I really enjoyed this one. It chronicles the music of my teens & twenties, so I read it avidly. A bit of an eye opener, too. Oh, those innocent days!
