Diary of a Nobody

by George Grossmith

This to me is one of the most amusing books I have ever read. Wonderful characterisation and a description of comic events.

It's a funny book, and - disturbingly - we can recognise ourselves occasionally in Mr Pooter's obsession with the small things that disturb the equilibrium of life. The Pooters are likeable characters: you can't help but admire a couple who called their son 'Lupin.' No wonder he turned out to be obnoxious!

Yes it's so funny!

I've thoroughly enjoyed this several times - the characters could be around today. And then there is the companion pieces, Keith Waterhouse's Mrs Pooter's Diary.
