Agatha Raisin and the perfect paragon

by M.C. Beaton

a humorous mystery
one of a series but can read them as stand alone titles
based around the work of an amateur sleuth and her team
A gentle curl up with a book and relax type book!

A very light- hearted read, very amusing. Agatha Raisin books are always easy to get into and enjoyable.

I would thoroughly recommend just about all the books written by M.C. Beaton. The early ones have an innocence about them that is lost in much more recent writings, where the author is starting to deal with darker issues; but 'hey-ho', there are much worse topics covered on tv! Both the Agatha Raisin and the Hamish Macbeth characters have their less-than-perfect motives for behaving in certain ways but are admirable in the long run of things. The simplistic style of writing means that slow readers like myself, can rattle through the pages without having to go back to find out missed connections,.... there are no chapter length details of weapons or political activists to recall for instance...and everyone is very human and fallible. Beaton has an acute sense of spotting a good story from ordinary goings-on then turning it cleverly into something fanciful and complicated when you aren't really expecting it. All very enjoyable.
What I love about Agatha Raisin is she is so human I can identify with her.You also get to know other characters who appear in all the books

This is another great book from the Agatha Raisin series. M. C. Beaton writes witty and light-hearted books with characters you can identify with, she also writes the Hamish MacBeth series. The Perfect Paragon follows the triumphs and disasters of Agatha Raisin as she tries to solve the murder of a young girl with her amateur team. A great read.
