Fingersmith

by Sarah Waters

Im a big sleeper so it takes quite a book to keep me awake late into the night! This one is truely gripping and you just have to keep turning the pages to find out what is going on and what is going to happen next. I read this with a reading group and when I saw the size of it, thought Id never read it in four weeks, but it was such a page turner I'd finished in less than two! I can thoroughly recommend it. It will take you into a world of the seedier elements of Victorian London- and the kind of greed Dickens wrote about.

One of the best books I have ever read. Just as you think you've got it all figured out it well and truly turns on its head and you realsise you've been had! An amazingly enjoyable read, I cannot recommend this particular Sarah Waters and all her others enough.

I always enjoy a gothic style book and found this one to be atmospheric and full of vivid detail. The characters were portrayed sympathetically and I found myself concerned about how incidents in the novel would affect them. At one point I was genuinely shocked by the turn of events and was sorry to reach the end of the book.
