Devil's Cub

by Georgette Heyer

This is an old favourite I regularly reread, especially when things are dark or difficult in real life. Heyer is witty, an impeccable researcher, clever at plotting, and her books are so sunny that she lifts my mood and I invariably end up smiling. This one is set in the Regency period, as all her best novels are, to my mind - try Heyer if there are days when even the immortal Jane Austen is too acerbic for your mood.
