The Thirteenth Tale

by Diane Setterfield

The book leads you through the story with clues dotted through the narrative to the underlying mystery of a family, and draws parallels between the life of the main character and the dysfunctional family life of the author whose biography she is writing. An old-fashioned style but but a fascinating read.
