jonathan strange and mr norell

by suzanna clarke

Tis is just so long-winded and drawn out. I ally thought that the book would be great, has all the elements I like in a book, fantastical, old fashioned, dark and brooding-or so I was lead to believe. I waited patiently for the paperback and then was thoroughly disappointed. I even stopped reading at about a third of the way through, I have only given up on one book before-maribou stork nightmares by Irvine Welsh-pish. Jonathan Strange is book with huge delusions of granduer, a rubbish long book for people who like Harry potter no doubt. A book the really wishes it were Gormenghast.
