Band of Brothers

by Stephen Ambrose

A deeply moving account of a group of young men going off to war - how and why they fought, what the thought about what they were going through.

What it shows above all is that it is the bond of friendship that leads men to place their lives at risk and compels them on occasion to do extraordinary things - the need to have the respect of those whose opinions you value.

The final thought sums up the book well "My grandson asked me if I was a hero in the war - I said no, but I served in a company of heroes

This book show the value of true friendship and reliance on those closest to you. It shows how people put their lives on the line for their comrades. They say in war that the man on your left and the man on your right are your best friends, no where is this shown to be more true than in this book. The heroes of this story are a true "band of brothers".
