A Thing of Unspeakable Horror

by Sinclair McKay

I'm about halfway through this book, which is, unusually for this website, non-fiction (is that allowed?), but is written with the eye of a novelist.

McKay is writing a history of Hammer films, but makes wider points about the post war British film industry, and why we remember the products of Hammer and the Carry On films, when the more respectable output of studios such as Rank are now largerly forgotten.
