Shakespeare: The World as a Stage

by Bill Bryson

Mr Bryson lays down the bare facts, whilst managing to enthrall and captivate his reader. A deed all the more worthy once you realise how bare the facts actually are. He doesn't attempt anything other than to tell the story as it is, dispell some myths, and remind us how much Bill gave to modern English.... Bill Shakespeare that is.

Disappointed by this - I love Bryson's books and was looking forward to his take on Shakespeare, but found his usual humour a bit blunted. For a really exciting (admittedly mainly imagined view f Shakespeare's life , try Christopher Rush's Will - brilliant!
A really good read
