
Who is the course for?
- Anyone interested in setting up and running reading groups.
- Can focus on reading groups for adults or for young people
- Can be customised for public library staff or staff in schools
- The course has also been run for adult education tutors, arts officers and for bookshop staff
Participants will:
- Explore how reading groups can provide an important creative and social outlet for readers
- Discover a range of ideas and practical tips to help reading group sessions and bookchains go well
- Understand the role of the facilitator and feel more confident in handling group dynamics
- Learn how to encourage groups to become self-supporting
- Explore how reader-to-reader promotion can benefit the library and all its readers
