Frontline New EditionThe core course introduces both the reader-centred approach and the tools to manage online training. It can be taken anywhere anytime – all you need is access to the internet and an email address. The course builds structured learning through 7 Modules which combine online exercises with practical tasks in the library. Every Trainee has their own personal Learning Log to store their work online. Each Module is checked and responded to by a peer Supervisor who has already done the course. There is a Supervisor Log for each Module which gives support in helping Trainees get the most out of the course. Experienced Supervisors can apply for a Supervisor Certificate which recognises and validates their skills. A subscription provides your Frontline Co-ordinator with all the tools they need to manage the course rollout. They can enrol Trainees, allocate Trainees to Supervisors, create Supervisors and build an Experience Bank for all Frontline users in their service to draw on. A key aspect of Frontline is online discussion with course users in other library services. Trainees can discuss with others taking the same Module, Supervisors in different services can share experiences and Co-ordinators have their own discussion board. Frontline Graduates offers everyone who has finished the Frontline course the opportunity to renew the network of contacts they built up whilst they did the course. It’s a professional network for staff interested in reader-centred work - a place where graduates can read about new projects and exchange news and ideas. Frontline RefresherAll Frontline Graduates in a subscribing library service can access Refreshers to renew enthusiasm and boost skills. Refreshers tackle everyday problems faced in library promotions and the content is changed every few months to offer a new challenge. What’s so Good about Libraries?A short and punchy advocacy module which is free with your Frontline subscription and designed to help anyone who needs to know what libraries really do, their importance to the community and the uniqueness of their role. It can be used in staff induction or to give a great introduction to reader-centred work in libraries for managers, volunteers, Friends or elected members.
