Colours and finishes will set the mood of your space - whether you want to create a calm and reflective atmosphere or a buzzy, upbeat environment.
We recommend flooring finishes to create bold statements, to differentiate areas of the library and to draw attention to specific functions like self-service. Carpet tiles and hard flooring are an essential part of any interior colour scheme and there are lots of options to choose from. If you have a preferred supplier or a specific budget range, we work within that. We provide detailed flooring plans for contractors to support on-site fit-out.
Providing a variety of seating areas is an important factor in encouraging visitors to linger, whether they’re spending an hour on the internet, a morning researching their thesis or twenty minutes in a quiet corner with a newspaper. We focus on comfort for all levels of mobility as well as style. Seating is upholstered in high performance contract-quality fabrics with colours and patterns chosen to complement the interior scheme.
As part of our library interiors offer, we give each library a unique and exciting contemporary guiding package. The signage work is integral to each project and is developed alongside the space planning and stock layout. Many factors come into play in designing appropriate signage: the type of building, the size of building, the lighting; the geographical location; the user groups; the colour scheme; the category of stock.
Decorative graphics add to the ambience and clearly signal to your target audiences. Opening the Book has led the way in bringing retail designers and independent artists to the library context. We look for imaginative style and content which will not go out of date. We work with a talented pool of creatives to design original, exciting and attractive graphics to send strong messages about who you are and what you offer.
