Opening the Book has just completed the refurbishment of Toxteth Library. Originally opened in October 1902, this is a beautiful Grade 2 listed Carnegie building. Opening the Book’s team worked closely with Liverpool libraries’ staff to ensure that all fabrics and finishes used in the building complemented the original oak features.
In the attractive upstairs gallery, the oak panelled shelving has been sympathetically adapted to become study carrels, while the basement area has been transformed into IT and meeting room areas.
