1996 Finding a good read

The seminal text by Rachel Van Riel and Olive Fowler for readers wanting to develop their own reading was first published by Bradford Libraries who had helped to road test it with readers.

The book explored all kinds of ways to open up your reading choices, develop confidence in your own judgment and get more out of what you read.  It also introduced a new critical vocabulary (‘the contract between reader and writer’, ‘engaging your values’) for discussing books from the reader’s point of view.
